“Ancestry” Art Exhibit at Del Ray Artisans Gallery

Exhibit Dates: August 3 – September 2, 2018
Opening Reception: Friday, August 3 from 7-9pm

“Family” by Karen Laurie Thomas

Many of us have taken a DNA test to find out more about our ancestors and visited the places we are from and our ancestors lived. As we did, many are finding new insights into how these cultural heritages and backgrounds combined to make us who we are. The Ancestry exhibit runs from August 3 through September 2, 2018, with the opening reception Friday, August 3 from 7-9pm at the gallery.

The motto of the United States of America or the Great Seal is E Pluribus Unum or “Out of many, one.” In this exhibit Del Ray Artisans artists show, through creative expression, what their ancestry means to them. By combining each individual’s artwork into the Ancestry exhibit, Del Ray Artisans showcases how the diverse, vibrant cultures of our members come together to form one strong community.

The Ancestry exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: First Thursdays (April-September) 12-9pm, Thursdays 12-6pm, Fridays 12-9pm, Saturdays 12-9pm, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.
